Tilicho Lake - The Highest Lake of Nepal
Tilicho Lake known for the highest lake in the world is located in Manang District of Nepal in the Annapurna range at an altitude of 4919m. Among the Annapurna Circuit Trek, Tilicho lake trek is the most popular destination for hiking. Similarly, Tilicho Lake is also famous for the religious point of view. Hindu pilgrims from around the world visit this lake as this place is the holy spot as mentioned in Ramayan (a holy book of Hindus).
Itinerary
Day 01:
Drive Kathmandu to Syange/ Jagat (1330m)
Day 02:
Syange/Jagat trekking to Dharapani (1960m): Walking distance 6-7 hours
Day 03:
Dharapani trekking to Chame (2630m): Walking distance 5 hours
Day 04:
Chame to Pisang (3210m): Walking distance 5 hours
Day 05:
Pisang to Manang (3540m): Walking distance 6-7 hours
Day 06:
Acclimatization day at Manang (3540m)
Day 07:
Manang trekking to Khangsar village (3734m): Walking distance 5-6 hours
Day 08:
Khangsar Village Trekking to Tilicho lake base camp (4150m): Walking distance 5-6 hours
Day 09:
Base camp trekking to Tilicho Lake (4920m): Walking distance 6-7 hours
Day 10:
Tilicho Lake trekking to Yak Kharka (4000m): Walking distance 4 hours
Day 11:
Yak Kharka trekking to Phedi (4420m): Walking distance 3-4 hours
Day 12:
Phedi to Muktinath (3800m) crossing Thorog la pass (5,416m): Walking distance 7-8 hours
Day 13:
Muktinath trekking to Jomsom (2713m) via Kagbeni (2810m): Walking distance 6-7 hours
Day 14:
Jomsom to Pokhara, 20 minutes flight
Day 15:
Pokhara to Kathmandu, take a 25 minutes flight or 6-7 hour drive.
Best Time to Travel:
February to Mid June, September - November are the best seasons. Dec & January are Winter and cold can be snow on the trail, July & August are rainy time, trekking can be done but visibility can be poor due to rain.
