Rara Lake - The Biggest Lake of Nepal

                The Rara Lake is the biggest and deepest fresh water lake in the Nepal Himalayas. It is the main feature of the Rara National Park, located in the Mugu Districts.In September 2007, the lake was declared a Ramsar site, covering 1,583 ha (6.11 sq mi) including the surrounding wetland.
Rara Lake lies at an altitude of 2,990 m above sea level and it has a water surface of 10.8 km2, a maximum depth of 167 m , 5.1 km long and 2.7 km wide.

Itinerary: 

Road Trip: 

Day 01:
Kathmandu to Surkhet.
 Day 02:
Morning arrive in Surkhet then after lunch and heading   7 hour drive to Kalikot Overnight at local Hotel.
 Day 03:
After breakfast, drive to Talcha Airport and stay at Hotel.
Day 04:
Early Morning heading to Rara Lake B/F, Lunch at Rara Lake Overnight at Rara Lake.
Day 05:
Explore  Rara Lake. (Boating,Horse riding,Jungle Walking, Village Tour and short   hiking in Murma Top)
Day 06:
After breakfast 7 hour Drive to Nagma and can visit Taato Pani (Hot spring) Overnight at Nagma.
Day 07:
Early Morning Breakfast then Drive to Surkhet Overnight at Surkhet.
Day 08:
Drive to Kathmandu.

Air Trip:

Day 01:
Kathmandu - Nepalgunj – Talcha Airport
Day 02:
Explore  Rara Lake (Boating,Horse riding,Jungle Walking, Village Tour and short   hiking in Murma Top)
Day 03:
Talcha Airport - Nepalgunj - Kathmandu

At winter

Best Time to visit: 

          The best visiting time to the lake is September/October and April to May. From December to March, the temperatures go low below the freezing point, and heavy snowfall occur up to one meter, blocking the way to the lake. April to June is warm in this region.
